How to Pray

Jesus’ disciples came to him and asked if he would teach them how to pray (Luke 11:1.) If you are uncertain how to pray rest assured you are in good company. The following guide can help give you a structure to pray.

P - Pause. Before we begin praying we need to pause. Stop what you are doing and pray. Create an appointment on your calendar to pray. You make appointments for all sorts of events. To see the Doctor. To go to the Gym. Create an appointment with God to pause and pray.

R - Rejoice. Celebrate what God has done. Even if you are facing the greatest challenge of your life, you are still alive. Rejoice in what God has done, how he has provided.

A - Ask. Ask God for help. He can handle your greatest need. God invites us to come to him with our needs.

Y - Yield. Surrender to the Lordship of Christ. The Lord is not only Lord of your life but when you yield to him he is Lord in and through your life

The P.R.A.Y. acronym is a resource from the Navigators Ministry. Visit this link for a one page Navigators Discipleship Tool for prayer.

Spiritual Giftedness

God has given each of us gifts, abilities, and experiences that we may express our love for Him and others. Being a follower Jesus means serving others. The Spiritual Gifts Assessment Tool: Discover Your God-Given Spiritual Gifts by Lifeway Christian Resources can help you understand how God has gifted you.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:

Your S.E.R.V.E. profile is a resource to both capture and share the way you have been uniquely created and gifted by God to make a difference with your life, for his Kingdom and glory. S.E.R.V.E. stands for,
